Yes the award is free. No cost is associated with nomination and been shortlisted. The award is strictly base on merit.
Any individual, group, or organization that works in or serves the maritime sector - offshore
supports, seafarers, port workers, shipping agents, associations, media, government
agencies, etc.
Entries open: March 27, 2024

Shortlisted Nominees notified: May 2024
Shortlisted nominees’ interview with HSENations journalist for an exclusive in the Award
publication: May - June 2024
Award Dinner/Technical Summit: Winners are announced and celebrated at a hybrid event
(Virtual and Physical): Saturday, September 28, 2024, Lagos, Nigeria.
The deadline is April 27, 2024 for all awards.
The OMIS is an annual award dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the efforts and
successes of individuals and organizations in the Shipping, Ports, Offshore Support, and
related industries.
The OMIS award aims to serve as a catalyst for the continued development of the maritime
sector through the recognition of the mostly silent but incredible work done by stakeholders,
celebrating innovations and achievements, and promoting further improvements.
The OMIS award brings together the who-is-who in the Maritime and offshore sector.
The nomination process requires that the nominator:
Step 1: Completes the appropriate nomination forms by visiting www.theomisaward.com.
Step 2: Each entry undergoes a quick initial review to ensure it meets the eligibility
requirements.
Step 3: All shortlisted entrants receive notification by email and will be required to answer a
set of brief assessment questions to support their nomination (The documents are strictly
protected in accordance with the data protection regulation (Nigeria Data Protection
Regulation 2019).
Step 4: The judges, consisting of 8 experts in various fields in the maritime and related
sector, will review, remark, and score all submitted entries for the final determination of
achievements and individuals and/or teams or organizations to be recognized with awards.
Please Note: If you are a finalist, you will be required to cooperate with the media team on
various items, such as filming a video, interview, and submitting photos of your activities.
There are tight deadlines for these, many of which are occurring between May and June,
and you will be required to meet these deadlines. For organizations, your corporate
communication team/department should be carried along early on this to alleviate any
concerns.
Step 5: The finalists attend a hybrid (Virtual and Physical) Award Gala/Technical Summit
28th September in Lagos to receive their certificate for nomination, and overall winners are
announced and given a distinctive award plaque. While some nominees may receive other
special gift packages ranging from cash prizes to maritime course coupons,

No. Sponsorship or support doesn’t guarantee an award. Sponsors have their benefits and recognition.
No. Your nomination information is confidential, and the documents are strictly protected in
accordance with the data protection regulation (Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019).
The only people who will see it are the organizing committee and the judges.
